For sale is our flagship Troopy build - a 1985 Toyota Landcruiser FJ75. Highlights include:
1HD-FT Engine swapped, paired with brand new fully built H55F transmission + Tcase combo with 10%overdrive gears. Alucab Hercules roof conversion and Shadow Awning with complete build out including fridge, house battery, 300w solar and electrical system. Dobinson MMR suspension, ARB On-board Air + Rear Air Locker, Front and Rear factory fuel tanks, 15 Gallon Long Range America water tank.
After importing from Australia 5 years ago, the truck was slowly built out as a personal and shop show truck. No corners were cut - everything replaced with OEM or upgraded parts with the highest grade of labor to show off what our shop can do.
This is a complete turn key troopy build with everything you could want.
Within the year, the truck was completely torn down to restore the body; all glass, gaskets, trim and bumpers removed. Any rust that had formed in the past 35 years was remediated. A thick coat of single stage Toyota Sandy Beige paint was sprayed on the body, followed with a cut and buff. While removed, all side and rear windows were restored with new gaskets and ceramic tint. A new OEM Toyota Windshield was installed at the same time.
Vehicle exterior accessories include a front ARB Bumper, Come-Up 12K Seal Synthetic Winch, Baja Designs LP6 lights, rear Kaymar Dual Swing out bumper (second tire can be swapped with a different accessory)
Under the chassis is a 15gallon auxiliary water tank from Long Range America - plumbed with a pump and spray hose.
An Alucab Hercules roof converion was installed along with Shadow awning.
A low miles 1HD-FT engine was installed from a late model HDJ81. Sourced from a European market 80 series, it showed less than 85,000 documented miles when pulled. No expense was spared on this 24-Valve Turbo Diesel, which many consider the best available from Toyota; the 1HD-FT being the last diesel engine Toyota produced before switching to complicated ECUs, EGR systems, and fuel injection pumps.
Fuel Economy teeters right at 20MPG even with all 3 tanks fully loaded.
The engine received completely new seals, gaskets and hardware throughout. New Bottom End Bearings, timing belt, tensioner, water pump as well. The engine is leak and smoke free.
Cera-kote ceramic was applied to any obvious part: Exhaust manifold, intake manifold, valve cover, etc.
Australian performance additions like a G-turbo, PDI Intercooler, Intake + 3” Turboback exhaust mean this truck runs cool and healthy up hills at 65-75mph.
The diesel injection pump was rebuilt and tuned by Oregon Fuel Injection - specialists in Bosch/VE Style tuning. New injectors and hardlines were done at the same time.
All engine accessories including A/C pump + lines, P/S pump + lines, alternator, wiring, heater valve, etc were replaced with new.
A brand new Toyota H55F transmission was installed at the same time, attached to a manual transfer case with 10% overdrive gears to keep RPMs low at high speeds.
Brought in as a gas FJ75 truck, the interior was preserved better than most workhorse HZJ75 units. Factory rubber floors, dash and door cards in the rare/early OAK color way present in original condition.
11way adjustable Scheelmann Vario F seats save the driver’s back on long drives. Heavy duty fabric holds up against damage and the heated seats warm fast on cold mornings. A swivel base was installed under the passenger seat.
At the rear, a complete buildout was crafted from 80/20 aluminum and wood to save weight and retain modularity. The rear seat is upholstered in heavy duty tweed. A Nardi Italia wheel finishes the cabin.
All hardware, hinges, window regulators, etc were replaced with new when removed for paint.
Auber Gauges line the dash to monitor Boost, EGT, Oil Pressure and Coolant Temp
Alpine Bluetooth CarPlay and Hertz speakers provide sound. USB and USB C ports are wired throughout.
Within the buildout is hidden a complete electical system including a Battleborn 100AH lithium battery, Victron management system, fuse panel, inverter and a Dometic CXF3 75 Dual Zone Fridge/Freezer combo. A custom aluminum box holds the house electronics - easily accessible by removing the seat cushion. 300w of Solar from Zamp reside on the roof.
An Espar/Eberspacher Diesel Heater is plumbed into the wall, hidden from sight but easily accessible. This unit sips diesel through the night(much less than a single gallon), keeping the cabin warm.
Under the vehicle you will find no leaks or rust - recently recoated in POR-15.
The Troopy currently comes with 35x10.50r17 Kenda RT tires on 17” Nomad Sahara wheels, but these can be swapped for whatever the buyer prefers.
